A Word From Pastor Chaussee

“Grace to you and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 1:7

Thank you for visiting our website! We are a small, friendly, and growing congregation, and we are delighted to make your acquaintance. Our chief desire for you is twofold; first, that you would come to know the One True God, and enter into a right relationship with Him; second, if you are indeed a true Christian, that you would continue to grow unto maturity in your knowledge of God.

Our services are simple, and in an age of increasing humanistic philosophy, we strive to make the Glory of God our primary aim. In other words, our worship, and philosophy of ministry, is not based upon what people “want,” or upon what “works,” but upon precepts that are in accordance with the character of God. Our God-given mandate, as a true New Testament church, is not to provide a continual stream of entertainment and laughter, or to mimic the elements of a corrupt world—such a direction is not only powerless to transform the sinful hearts of humanity, but cruel to the souls of its hearers. While accompanied by the joy of the Lord and many blessings along the way, the Christian life is a battleground, not a playground; as a result, our meetings are a combination of a joyful spirit, and a proper reverence for Him.

The preaching and teaching of the Bible is central here, because only the Word of God is sufficient to meet the fundamental issues and complexities of our times—and to answer life’s great questions—at their roots. All other sources of “wisdom” are superficial and temporary at best. We endeavor to maintain a balance between a bold and unapologetic stance for Truth, and a gracious spirit, remembering that apart from our Gracious God, we have nothing, know nothing, and are nothing.

We hope that you will visit one of our services soon. We are imperfect sinners, saved by the grace of God, called to a life of grateful obedience and service to Christ—and eager to welcome others on the same pathway.

In Christ,

Jeff Chaussee

About Pastor Jeff Chaussee and Family

Jeff Chaussee was raised in Alaska, and attended various churches during most of his childhood. The Lord graciously saved his wicked soul at the age of 19, while he was studying Civil Engineering at Oregon Tech. Eight months later, his life radically transformed and convinced that the Lord had called him to preach, he was enrolled as a student at a Bible college in southern California; it was there that he met his future wife, Jennifer. A little over two years later, they were happily married.

After living for a short time in Sacramento, California, and then two years in Nampa, Idaho, they moved back to Alaska and joined Immanuel Baptist Church in Palmer, where they would spend the next 10 years. It was here that Jeff would continue his training for the ministry, and was involved in various teaching and preaching ministries of the church, as well as spending about 4 of those years preaching, teaching, and counseling at a local prison. During that time, he was also self-employed as a trim and custom cabinetry contractor. At the continued suggestion of the church family, deacons, and Pastor, and in accordance with the direction of God in his own life, Jeff was formally ordained to the ministry of the Gospel on October 6, 2012.

Since that time, the Chaussee’s have been praying about the Lord’s direction, sensing that a different door of ministry was about to open. After the first visit to Berean Baptist Church here in Helena, their hearts were knit with the people, and both they and the church family spent the next couple of months seeking the Lord’s direction. In December of 2014, the church voted unanimously to call Jeff as their new pastor, and that call was joyfully accepted. Preparations were made to make the move from Alaska to Montana, and the Chaussee’s arrived on the evening of June 11, 2015, with their 5 children: Jeremiah, Lydia, Lori, Elijah, and Simeon. Their sixth child, Moriah, was born in August of 2015.

Jeff and his family consider it a joy and privilege to serve the Lord Jesus Christ, and are thrilled to be here in Montana. They love spending time in the outdoors, especially because the Glory of God is so vividly displayed through the beauty, order, and design of Creation. They are excited about what God is going to do here in this church and this city, because the Gospel of Christ is still “the power of God unto salvation, to every one that believeth,” and the Word of God is just as powerful and relevant as it has ever been.
